Squatters, the homeless and some mad persons have turned the Tema Motorway tollbooth into a room where they pass the night and subsequently live permanently.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, some persons were captured sleeping in the booth that is situated in the middle portions of the busy motorway.
In some other videos that circulated, a lady was seen busily cooking on fire as she packed a heap of firewood right on the walk way as if she was living in her house.
The situation has got Ghanaians talking while some call for the expelling of such persons while others say the toll booth should be removed entirely from the spots.
Some other Ghanaians have also called on government to renovate the toll booths and bring back collection of road tolls on the Accra-Tema motorway.
The non-usage of the toll booth is as a result of a directive by the Minister for Roads and Highways few years ago that all road toll collection exercise should be canceled, leaving the toll booths for the homeless to occupy.
