The National Democratic Congress Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama has promised the people of Assin North Constituency for their support for his party.
Mr. Mahama’s promise follows the voting of the NDC candidate Hon. James Gyakye Quayson in the just ended by-election in the Assin North Constituency.
During the thank you tour held by the NDC in Assin North, Mr Mahama confessed his admiration for the people, thanking them for voting Mr. Quayson as their new Member of Parliament.
“If history is being written about elections in Ghana, the people of Assin North will have their name written in gold. The victory in this by-election is the beginning of our march to recapture power”, former President Mahama said.
To a rousing cheers and welcome, the people of Assin North were seen in various videos cheering up leaders of the NDC at their just-ended James Gyakye Quayson Thank You Tour.
The elected Member of Parliament has become the talk of town following his re-election after the Supreme Court of Ghana ruled that his name be removed from the books as MP.
The ruling came after claims by a Ghanaian that Mr. James Gyakye Quayson held a dual citizenship of Ghana and Canada at the time of filing for nomination as an MP.
Meanwhile, the MP is still being dragged in court after the NDC decided not to change him as their candidate, as he went on to win the election over NPP and LPG’s candidate.
