Two house helps have been arraigned before an Accra Court for allegedly stealing a huge amount of cash in the bedroom of Ghana’s Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources.
First accused person, 18-year-old Patience Botwe and second accused person Sarah Agyei, aged 30 were said to have stolen the whooping cash while working for the Minister in her house, ,located in Abelemkpe, Accra.
Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Madam Cecilia Dapaah and her husband, Mr. Daniel Osei Kuffuor told the court that the two of their former house helps broke into their bedroom and stole the cash plus items between July to October 2022.
According to information told the court, Patience and Sarah were said to have stolen an amount of 1 million dollars, 300 million euros and millions of Ghana Cedi.
In addition to the whooping amount of money, the two ladies allegedly stole the Minister’s jewelries valued at 95,000 dollars as well as assorted cloth worth 95,000 Ghana Cedi.
The first accused person, Patience Botwe was accused to have singlehandedly stole 6 pieces of kente cloth worth 90,000 Ghana Cedi as well as men’s suit valued at 3,000 dollars said to belong to the Minister’s husband.
In addition to Patience and Sarah, Patience’s current boyfriend, her former boyfriend and her father have all been accused and arrested in relation to the alleged crime.
The three others are 26-year-old plumber Benjamin, Kweku Botwe, a 65-year-old trader and Malik Dauda, 23 have all been accused of receiving parts of the alleged stolen cash.
